Get Happier - Positive Psychology Project
15 emails, each with a small thought exercise.
What is Positive Psychology?
Research has shown that about 50% of happiness is determined by genetic factors, 10% is determined by life circumstances (e.g., how much money someone earns), and 40% is determined by intentional activities.
Positive psychologists study what types of intentional activities help people boost their happiness in lasting ways (change the 40%).
How Does The Project Work?
This positive psychology mini-project will introduce you to research-based positive psychology strategies in a snack-sized format.
You’ll get one email a day for 15 days. They’re short emails with a suggested activity to try - far easier than reading a book.
The topics included in the mini project include: Hope, Curiosity, Zest, Four Types of Savoring, Gratitude, Self Compassion, Lovingkindness Meditation, and more. Because it’s an email series and not a book, I’m able to include the most up to date scientific research.
Q: What if I can’t stick with it?
A: You don’t need to try everything that’s included. Hopefully the email format will lead to you actually trying more of the activities than if you read a book. You’ll get a bite-sized email and a suggested activity. Most books include too many suggested activities and people get overwhelmed by reading & making decisions about which activities to try. This format helps avoid your willpower getting drained from decision making.
If you’re really worried about sticking at it, I recommend you try another short project first for strengthening your willpower muscle. Then come back and try this project. A suggested first project is to throw away one unused item per day for two weeks, or put away one out of place item a day for two weeks. Your first personal project should be something you’re very confident of being able to stick to.
Q: What if it doesn’t work for me?
A: The research studies suggest these techniques work for most people, but if they don’t work for you, there is a
30-Day Money Back guarantee. You probably won’t be interested in all the strategies included in the project, but try to find 1 or 2 that you’d like to incorporate into your life. The project will give you the opportunity to briefly try a range of strategies and see what you like. Small tweaks can make a big difference!
Q: What if I’m nervous about making an online payment?
A: You can pay securely using a credit card. You’ll be shown the price (9.99 USD) in your own currency and can pay in your own currency for most major currencies. If you have any problems with the sign up process, you can contact email@example.com for technical support. When you click to pay, you’ll be taken to a 2Checkout page, the company that handles my payment processing. I handle all other aspects of delivering the product.
