“Make Your Own Kind of Music” Interviews

It’s been an exciting last couple of weeks. Here’s why.

Something I’ve noticed in my work as a clinical psychologist is that lots of people don’t have a clear picture of what their dreams are: they don’t know what they really, really want for themselves and their relationships.

This especially is common when people are experiencing problems like depression, anxiety, or self doubt.

When people are having these problems, they often can’t see their potential futures, and imagine a time when they’re free of the difficulties they’re currently experiencing – when they can fully express what’s great about themselves without psychological issues holding them back.

Many people who are functioning well also have difficulty thinking about their dreams.

In the spirit of encouraging people to think creatively, openly, and bravely about their dreams for themselves, I’m launching a new project.

I’m calling it the “Make Your Own Kind of Music” Interviews.

It’s going to be a series of interviews with regular people who have intrigued and inspired me with how they’re creating a path for themselves in the world. The name refers to the song by Cass Elliot (Mama Cass of the Mamas and the Papas).

The reason I’m excited is that I reached out to the first set of people I most wanted to interview and they all said yes. I’m thrilled!

The first two interviews will be with

1. Jen Ozawa (you can read about Jen here – Interview with Jen Ozawa).

2. Stephanie Griest.

Stephanie Griest is the author of three books, including two travel memoirs (and she’s VERY awesome).
